Growing up near Westcliffe, Colorado, right at the base of the dramatic Sangre de Cristo Mountains and near my grandparents’ cattle ranch, the high country shaped how I see the world. As a kid, I would spend hours getting completely lost playing in the open hay fields, letting my imagination run wild against that towering alpine backdrop. Before long, those playgrounds turned into places of hard work, where I spent my summers out in the fields—teaching me early on the value of grit, patience, and a deep respect for the land.
That same grounded perspective eventually led me behind the lens when I started my photography journey in 2008 with Gillespie Photography. Now, after nearly twenty years and over 500 weddings capturing authentic human stories, I am stepping into the next chapter as Rusk & Fields Photography, a documentary wedding photography studio based out of Silverthorne, Colorado. We are dedicated to telling real, unscripted stories rooted in the grit and beauty of the mountains.
Trent Gillespie
Trent Gillespie is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in News Editorial. Based in Silverthorne, Colorado, Trent brings a journalist’s eye and a deep appreciation for the outdoors to his daily life. When he isn’t behind the camera or working on projects, he enjoys spending time in the backcountry, backpacking, touring, and making memories with his two children. He is also an avid renovation and woodworking enthusiast who loves building and creating with his hands.
